What to Pack for Ciudad Perdida 🌿🥾

Time is getting closer and closer, and the excitement to live this Colombian adventure with all of you keeps growing 💛

For everyone joining the Ciudad Perdida (Lost City) Trek, we put together this recommended packing list to help you prepare for the jungle. The trek is absolutely incredible — but it’s also hot, humid, muddy, sweaty, and very real nature 😄 So packing smart will make a huge difference in your comfort during the hike.

We hope you find this useful, and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

👕 Clothing

Activewear (2–3 outfits recommended)

The weather will be hot and humid, but we’ll also spend many hours under direct sun. Because of that, long sleeves and longer layers are actually highly recommended. They help protect you from:

  • Sun exposure

  • Mosquitoes and bugs

  • Excessive sunscreen use

A great option is layering:

  • Short sleeves for most of the day

  • A lightweight long sleeve for peak sun hours

Most important rule:

✅ Fast-dry fabrics only❌ Avoid cotton

Everything will get sweaty and humid very quickly, and clothes rarely dry overnight because the camps are humid. Usually, lunch breaks are the only opportunity to dry things under the sun.

🩲 Underwear

Fast-dry underwear is ideal.

For women especially, sports bras are strongly recommended:

  • More comfortable for hiking

  • Better support

  • Dry much faster

Bring at least:

  • 1 extra underwear set

  • 1 extra sports bra

Trust us — having backups is always a good idea in the jungle 😅

🧦 Socks

Fast-dry socks are also highly recommended.

Bring:

  • Enough for each day

  • At least 1 extra pair in case things get wet

Dry feet = happy trekker.

😴 Pajamas

Bring something light and comfortable to sleep in.

Keep in mind the camps are shared/open sleeping spaces, so practical comfy sleepwear is better than anything too fancy.

🧢 Hat & Sunglasses

Sun protection is essential.

Bring:

  • A cap or bucket hat

  • Sunglasses you can comfortably wear all day

We recommend sunglasses you won’t be heartbroken about if they get scratched, lost, muddy, or accidentally stepped on 😄

👙 Swimsuit

There will be opportunities to swim in the river along the trek — and honestly, those river breaks feel AMAZING after hiking in the jungle.

Definitely pack a swimsuit.

🏕️ Fast-Dry Towel

A lightweight quick-dry towel is essential.

You’ll use it for:

  • Showers

  • River swims

  • Drying off during breaks

Again: fast-dry matters A LOT in this climate.

🩴 Flip-Flops

Super useful for:

  • Camp showers

  • Walking around camp

  • River time

  • Giving your feet a break after hiking boots

💧 Camel Bag or Water Bottle

The camps provide filtered water throughout the trek, but you’ll need something to carry it in during hikes.

Camel bags are especially convenient, but a regular reusable water bottle works perfectly too.

☀️ Sunscreen & Mosquito Repellent

Absolutely essential.

The combination of jungle humidity + sun exposure makes these two non-negotiable if you want a comfortable trek experience.

👟 Shoes

Bring:

  • Trekking shoesOR

  • Sneakers with good grip

Important recommendations:

✅ Good grip is important❌ Avoid waterproof/Gore-Tex shoes

Why?

  • It’s very warm and humid

  • Waterproof shoes make your feet sweat a lot

  • If they get wet, they may never dry

You do NOT need aggressive trail-running shoes — just avoid flat asphalt-running sneakers with no traction.

🧴 Toiletries

Keep it simple and minimal.

Recommended:

  • Deodorant

  • Shampoo

  • Soap

  • Toothbrush/toothpaste

  • Personal medications

  • Any daily essentials

This is definitely not a makeup-heavy experience 😄The lighter your bag, the happier you’ll be.

🛏️ Light Sheet or Thin Blanket

Not mandatory, but very nice to have.

A lightweight sheet can help:

  • Protect from bugs while sleeping

  • Add a little warmth at night

  • Make sleeping more comfortable overall

Nights can occasionally feel a bit chilly after sweaty hiking days.

🔋 Portable Battery

Nice to have, but not essential.

The camps do have electricity during limited hours, so you’ll have opportunities to charge devices. But if you use your phone a lot for photos/videos, a power bank is very helpful.

🎒 Backpack

Recommended size:

30L–40L MAX

We personally did the trek with 30L backpacks and it was more than enough.

Anything bigger usually becomes unnecessary extra weight.

Make sure your backpack includes:✅ Rain cover

🌧️ Rain Poncho

Optional.

Bring one if you really dislike hiking in the rain. Just keep in mind:

  • The climate is already very humid

  • Ponchos can make you sweat even more inside

Some people love them, others never use them.

😴 Earplugs & Eye Mask

Very recommended if you’re a light sleeper.

Remember:

  • Sleeping spaces are shared/open

  • People snore

  • People chat

  • People use flashlights

  • Jungle sounds exist

  • And yes… sometimes there are farts LOL 😄

These small items can make a huge difference for good sleep.

Final Tip 💛

Pack light.Seriously.

Every extra kilo feels heavier after hours of hiking in humidity. Bring only what you truly need, and prioritize comfort over style.

We seriously cannot wait to live this adventure with all of you 🌿✨Ciudad Perdida is going to be unforgettable.
